SUMMARY:Flu Fighters and Special Guests The Ellis Family Band
DESCRIPTION:Both shows – SOLD OUT!\nMedicine meets music in this entertaining\, heartfelt and cheerful performance by a group of our local doctors in support of the Prince County Hospital.\nAll proceeds from this show go to the Prince County Hospital Foundation.\nThe RETURN of the FLU FIGHTERS!\nThis group of friends and colleagues\, realizing they had common interests in music\, decided to get together to “shake the dust” off some old talents and have fun as a way to relax and manage stress. That was June 2024 and they haven’t looked back. From simple beginnings of one or two songs\, they have steadily built up a surprisingly varied and entertaining repertoire that they love to play. Realizing that they might be able to share some of this music therapy with other colleagues (and provide a much needed morale boost to these friends)\, they went ahead and performed at several gatherings and parties for hospital staff and were a smash hit. From voluntary donations and selling fun band-themed T-shirts\, they also raised money to help support PCH.\nWorking on this theme\, and swallowing their fear of failure and performance for large audiences\, they nervously took their act to the next level and performed to a sold-out crowd here last year. It was so well received\, and such a great fundraiser for PCH\, they are excited to step on stage again. They are quick to joke: “we aren’t good… but we aren’t\nbad!”\nCome down and immerse yourselves in the healthy medicine of music\, and sing along with some favourites performed by some familiar faces as they bare their soul and play their hearts out for their community and their\nhospital.\nDr. John Morash lead vocals\, drums\, and master cowbell\nDr. Tyler MacDonell lead guitar\, drums\, and vocals\nDr. David Antle rhythm guitar\, vocals\, and harmonica\nDr. April MacPhee bass\, ukulele\, and vocals\nDr. Jonathan Sharpe drums\, keyboard\, melodica\, and vocals\nDr. Steven MacNeill guitar\, mandolin\, vocals\nThe Ellis Family Band – Opening Act\n\n\nThe Ellis Family Band (EFB) is from Summerside\, Prince Edward Island and was formed in the 1970s by four brothers and their father\, Russell Ellis\, a fiddle player. Their music influences blend traditional Island fiddle tunes with 1970s and 80s popular music. Bassist Greg MacDonald joined early on and became like a fifth brother.\n\nEFB gained national attention in the 1980s with hits like “Easy To Love”\, “Mother of Mine”\, and “Thank You For Being My Friend” – the latter reaching #1 on the charts. They were nominated for multiple Canadian Country Music Awards and a Juno Award releasing over 15 singles that charted nationally. Despite being offered an international record deal\, they chose to stay rooted in PEI.\nAfter a break in the 1990s\, EFB returned in 2005 performing sold-out shows across PEI and sharing stages with major artists like Reba McIntyre and Paul Brandt. Today\, they perform at special events showcasing their signature harmonies.\n\n\n\n  \n\n
