SUMMARY:Flu Fighters
DESCRIPTION:Medicine meets music in this entertaining\, heartfelt\, and cheerful performance by a group of our local doctors in support of the Prince County Hospital.\nDoctor shortages\, long wait times\, pandemics… it’s been a hard few years for Canadians and a very stressful time for doctors and other healthcare workers. This group of friends and colleagues\, realizing they had common interests in music\, decided to get together to “shake the dust” off some old talents and have fun as a way to relax and manage stress. That was June 2024 and they haven’t looked back. From simple beginnings of one or two songs\, they have steadily built up a surprisingly varied and entertaining repertoire that they love to play.\nRealizing that they might be able to share some of this music therapy with other colleagues\, they went ahead and performed at several gatherings and parties for hospital staff and were a smash hit. From voluntary donations and selling fun band-themed T-shirts\, they also have been raising money to help support PCH.\nWorking on this theme\, and swallowing their fear of failure and performance for large audiences\, they have bravely volunteered to take their act to the next level and perform for their community in one of it’s best performance venues\, the Scott MacAulay Performing Arts Centre. As they are quick to joke: “we aren’t good… but we aren’t bad!” Come down and immerse yourselves in the healthy medicine of music\, and sing along with some favourites performed by some familiar faces as they bare their soul and play their hearts out for their community and their hospital.\n\nDr. John Morash lead vocals\, drums\, and master cowbell\nDr. Tyler MacDonell lead guitar\, drums\, and vocals\nDr. David Antle rhythm guitar\, vocals\, and harmonica\nDr. April MacPhee bass\, ukulele\, and vocals\nDr. Jonathan Sharpe drums\, keyboard\, melodica\, and vocals\nDr. Steven MacNeill guitar\, mandolin\, vocals\n\nWith Special Guests MadJoy\n\n  \nMadJoy is the electrifying new duo formed by longtime collaborators Logan Maddix and Kenny Lajoie. Fusing raw emotion with dynamic musicianship\, MadJoy delivers a genre-blending sound rooted in rock\, soul\, and modern alternative\, layered with rich harmonies and undeniable chemistry. \nLogan Maddix brings a visceral edge with his powerful vocals and gritty guitar work\, while Kenny Lajoie rounds out the sound with masterful instrumentation\, creative production\, and a deep musical intuition. Together\, they craft songs that hit hard and linger long after the last note fades—equal parts catharsis and celebration. \nBorn from a shared vision and years of friendship\, MadJoy is more than a name—it’s an expression of the joy that rises from the madness of life\, channeled through music that’s as heartfelt as it is high energy. Whether on stage or in the studio\, MadJoy is ready to break boundaries and connect through sound. \n  \n\nAnd Special Guests Vatican Radio\n  \n\nVatican Radio is a high-energy teenage rock band bringing fresh fire to timeless sounds. The four members—Hunter Sparkes (guitar\, vocals\, keys\, drums)\, Bennett Parkes (lead guitar)\, Joel McEwen (bass)\, and Ian Sharpe (drums\, vocals\, keys)—first honed their chops together in the TOSH R&B Band before breaking out with their own sound. Drawing inspiration from classic rock\, blues\, and select modern artists\, Vatican Radio blends vintage swagger with youthful intensity—delivering a live show that’s equal parts raw power\, tight musicianship\, and unforgettable stage presence. \nThe band would like to thank you for your support of the Prince County Hospital—your generosity helps keep our community strong.
